| The death on 15th January 2001 of Leo Marks (Leopold Samuel Marks, born 24 September 1920), aged 80, was distressing news to all concerned with SOE. A full Obituary of this brilliant man, who played such an outstanding and extremely significant part in WWII, was published in the London TIMES on 22 January 2001 and in the DAILY TELEGRAPH the next day: the GUARDIAN followed suit on 2nd February. |
We are very much indebted to Steve Crook for an insight into Leo's involvement in the film industry - via his Powell & Pressburger Pages which are dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make "those wonderful films".
Internet links to Press Obituaries:- are now in danger of disappearing, or have in some cases already disappeared into the realms of "Pay to See" but Steve has the wit and kindness to preserve versions on his site mentioned above and for which we are most grateful.Click here to return to Home Page
